hope
Hope is a powerful thing. It drags you out of the darkness. For most of us who are having a stable, routined, comfortable life, we probably do not see how hope is such an important thing until we fall into darkness and realize how much it could mean. When a blind person knows that they could see again, when a dying person sees the slightest hope of living, when a person in debt sees a way of making money, when a person sees a chance of getting the love of his life back… I remember several years ago, my family had this debt they needed to pay. It was a huge amount of money, and my mom was in despair. I remember the tears, the helplessness, the struggle, the torment. I was only a teenager and I had no idea how to help them and it started to affect me of how the family dynamics just shifted. I was lost and confused and insecure. It was not until last year my mom found a new way to make money and now she is paying the debt little by little. I still remember when she saw this opportunity, she saw hope. Sure she was skeptical at first but at least it was an opportunity and she completely lit up. She was trying her best and giving all her effort into this and now she is recovering and doing better and better.
Hope does not necessarily need to be seen in a life or death situation, it also exists in our daily lives. When you work so hard for your school or work, you hope for a good outcome. When you hope to pass your driver’s license test, or hope to make it to the train station on time, or hope to make good friends… Hope is a powerful thing. It motivates us, it elevates us, it encourages us. The strength, potential, the power within ourselves are evoked through hope, and it makes us stronger and focused.
