Sam’s stream yesterday + minor commentary:

Head’s up, dspere is biased (appreciates Sam as a character, finds Dream to be a solid villain). Spoilers for Sam’s stream on 30th of January 2022.

- Where does Sam fit into the meta of the myth of Pandora’s jar (known as Pandora’s box)? If Dream was the symbolism of physical and emotional curse upon mankind, and Tommy was the hope, left inside the box and later freed. Dream himself escaped later, after Tommy. Under this myth, Sam’s left with only himself.

- The way that Sam believes Dream will just up and let him free, likely as a result of their previous power dynamic. Sam thought that somehow he’s still got leverage on Dream, or he was lying to himself here, in denial.

- Sam tells himself that he’s got ‘people on the outside’. Dream tells him back that he’s not afraid. Underlying this, Sam’s still got some strength left in him to try to find a way out, and a small belief that maybe, there’s people who care.

- The way that Dream posits to Sam is his therapist, and that when Sam bargains for Dream’s questions to already be asked since he was already planning to kill him anyways so what was the worth in keeping him there. Dream replying that time is valuable, and that the two of them have an entire year to sort this out.

- Would it have been better if Sam was in there alone, than with Dream?
