You were elated when Flame invited you out for a night of dancing. The two of you had only danced together in the privacy of your homes or the studio but something seemed to bolster his confidence lately, making your typically shy mate more sure of himself.
"heya, bb." He grins at you, a bright cerulean flush highlighting his freckles. "i'm glad you came."
You giggle as he pulls you onto the dance floor by the hand. "I'm glad you invited me." You respond, smiling softly as he leads you into a shuffle step combo across the floor.
There's this twinkle in his eyelights as he glances upward. Before you can follow his gaze, he changes the direction he's moving in and puts himself directly in your way.
You correct yourself just in time to come chest to chest with him, flushing as one of his arms winds around your waist. His opposite hand cups your cheek and you gently press against his palm. Your stomach does a little flip when Flame winks at you before looking up.
You follow his gaze and find mistletoe hanging from the ceiling over the two of you.
"Wait," you sputter, "did you just shortcut us under this?"
"and here i was hopin' you wouldn't notice." Flame laughs softly, taking a deep breath and shifting his hand from your cheek to bury in your hair as he dips you backwards. "merry gyftmas, bb."
Your heart leaps into your throat the moment Flame tips you back, starts to hammer when his chilly magic meets your lips. Your eyes flutter shut, the sounds of a couple people hooting and hollering for you two nearly drowned out by Flame's kiss.
Flame tenses up at the noise, though, your stomach flipping again at the sudden feeling of another shortcut. He breaks away, hiding his face against your neck as he pulls you back upright.
"s-sorry, bb."
You look around and find yourself in Flame's room. "You okay?" You ask the side of his skull. A smile stretches your lips when you notice deep navy magic encasing his skull.
"yea," he pulls his face away from your neck and is positively glowing. "yea, i'm okay." He smiles timidly at you.
You can't help but squish his face between your hands and pull him in for a brief kiss. "Dingus." You grin when his smile softens and grows. "Thank you, Flame."
"anytime, bb."
