Jared wakes up, slamming his hand on his alarm. A couple minutes later he gets a text from Evan saying he wants to hang sometime

Jared says he’s free that day, so they decide to meet up somewhere

They’re talking on a bench, and Evan sees a stray cat on the other side of the road, and goes to pick it up

Before Jared can stop Evan

Wham.

Evan gets hit by a car. Jared runs over to him, silently panicking. Jared holds Evan in his arms, begging for him to wake up. He feels a strong sense of dread fill him. At the same time, he’s empty. He feels nothing. What is he supposed to do now? He can’t call an ambulance, Evan’s already gone. He’s dead. Suddenly-

[BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.]

Jared wakes up. It’s still the same day, still morning time. He assumes it was just a bad dream, until he gets the same exact text from Evan. Same time, too. Must just be a coincidence.

As Jared goes about his day, the same things appear to be happening. Deja Vu, he thinks. He meets up with Evan and talks to him about the similarities between him and his subconscious, but laugh it off as a joke. This time, when Evan sees the cat, Jared grabs his hand and yanks him back.

When Evan turns and looks at him, he seems… shaken. Like he’s seen a ghost. It takes him a few seconds to let out a bitter laugh and say “it’s just a cat, it’ll be fine” before letting go. He’s still shaking. Crisis averted.

They decide to just walk around the mall, and browse stores without actually buying anything. Am I the only one who does that? Anyway-

Him and Evan are just looking at things through the windows and occasionally going inside, which they did a lot considering it’s a two story building. They’re walking near the edge, and Jared let’s his mind wander for a second. He spaces out, looking over the side, until Evan shakes him and points at something on a lower level. He stands on the tips of his toes and jumps to see better. He seems excited.

How cute. Well, until someone riding a skateboard crashes into him that is. Evan ends up getting shoved over the edge, and hitting the floor below face-first. The last thing Jared hears is a deafening snap, and the last thing he sees is blood splattering everywhere.

[BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.]

He wakes up.
