Akira Shirogane, Commander of the Voltron Guard

This is Akira, Shiro’s twin brother from my series Voltron: Duality. After finding out about Voltron and the war, Akira refounds the Voltron Guard, a support fleet of pilots from allied worlds. (feat. the official design of the Guard armor)

Hey there! I just wanted to say that me and my bro have had a great time reading your Duality fic! We just finished S2 this morning and AAA!!! I love this?? Every time I finish a chapter I say 'there's no way it can get even better' and then IT DOES. A couple things though about Matt- does he wear his glasses all the time? Also, what exactly do his crystal scars look like? They were mentioned to have changed a little after his time in the cryopod, but I never could figure out how exactly.Thanks!

1) Through season one and two, Matt does wear his glasses all the time. He prefers contacts (because he, like me has an astigmatism, which means contacts are always just a little bit clearer than glasses), and he wore contacts during the Kerberos mission. Obviously he doesn’t still have those, so after escaping he wears glasses all the time. As of the break between s2/s3, he switches back to contacts.

2) So when Matt’s crystals first grew out of control, they were very nearly everywhere. I finally found a good visual reference for what I was picturing, which is the Orchid race from the board game Gloomhaven. This is a cropped version of the character art (you can see the full version on the Cephalofair Games website)

Not the crystal hair, sure, but crystals growing out of his skin all over the place. The vast majority of those crystals withered and shrank as he healed, so what he has left look a lot like little plaques (like you’d see with psoriasis.) The most visible ones are on his face, next to the eye that was affected, but those are also pretty small (the biggest is about the size of his pinky nail.) He has some bigger ones, up to an inch or so long, across his collarbone and chest and down his back along his spine. I’m not a good enough artist to draw it exactly, but hopefully this edit gives you an idea.
