Day 77: Sarah & Duck
The other day, tumblr user dalekusa suggested I check out a show called Sarah & Duck for this week's Duck Monday. It's quite possibly the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
There's not a ton to say about it. It's a British preschool 'toon on the BBC currently in it's second series. The episodes are only about 7 minutes long. It's a lot like Peppa Pig, but it's a little more grounded. It's just a little girl and her friend Duck.
It features a genuine little kid doing the voice acting which, when used properly, is always a good idea. Catbug in Bravest Warriors is the best example of this, but Sarah is pretty good, too.
The art style is somewhere between an almost grungy, webcomicy, hand-drawn thing like Hyperbole and a Half and a more seamless, clearly computer-animated cartoon like South Park. It's simple but it's beautiful and flows really, really well.
Next time my niece is in town, I'll have to find some more episodes of this to put on. Thanks for reading!
