Kennedy’s Birth Story
Kennedy Jay Mussman was born on August 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM after 37.5 hours of labor, weighing 7 lbs 4.9 oz at 20.25"
On August 21 at 1:30 PM, I received a membrane sweep at my 40 week prenatal visit with my OBGYN. At approximately 9 PM that evening I started having contractions. At about 12 AM I started counting them and I was at every 7 minutes. After an hour of that I was in so much pain and we headed to the hospital.
We arrived at 2.5-3 centimeters and 75% effaced with contractions every 7 minutes. At which point they gave us the option to be admitted into our room and take natural measures to induce labor or to go home and do so. We decided to go home and go to sleep until labor progressed further.
After several hours of tossing and turning from the pain of the contractions (Which they informed me I was in so much pain because she was so low in my pelivs), At about 6 AM, I woke Talor up and we headed for the hospital again. When we arrived I was still 2.5-3 centimeters and about 90% effaced with contractions every 5 minutes. This time we decided to be admitted into our room and try inducing labor naturally.
AT 8 AM August 22, when I hit 4 centimeters they allowed me to have the epidural and were giving me Pictocin to make my contractions stronger and closer together. At this point I wasn't even feeling my contractions.
Sunday morning August 23, things were still slowly but surely progressing. Some of our friends came to visit us in the hospital around 10 AM and at about 11 AM nurses checked my dilation again, where we had to kick everyone out because I was finally 10 centimeters and ready to push.
1.5 hours later, my doctor allowed Talor and I to pull Kennedy out together and that's when she made her arrival at 12:52 PM on Sunday, August 23 after 37.5 hours of labor, when Talor cut her cord and they laid her on my chest. Due to my fever, Kennedy was born with a fever as well and she was rushed to NICU for antibiotics while I delivered the placenta and we were both placed on a 48 hour watch.
After a full 48 hours of antibiotics, shots, vaccines and check-ups (Kennedy's bilirubin level's were 0 and she was completely healthy!) ....we finally were able to leave the hospital on Tuesday August 25, 2015 at about 4 PM.
