I wish to pay tribute to Takahashi Kazuki, who was found dead today at age 60 at sea near the southern island of Okinawa.

So many of us have started reading your manga Yu-Gi-Oh! and have felt a growing passion for it, so many of us have grown up with your most famous stories and drawings, so many of us have played your card game. I would never have started as a fanfiction writer if it wasn't for your manga. I would never have forced myself beyond the doubt, shame, and shyness to publish my story if I hadn't felt the need to expand the universe of your already magnificent manga, which I keep loving to watch like a 6-year-old girl in front of her Christmas presents, so that its grandiosity could be all the more noticed.

I want to thank you, Takahashi-sensei, for what you have brought to this world, to thank you for all your works. You were a man of passion and endeavour, a man devoted to his work who spared no effort to create a universe of beauty and reality. You have helped so many of us readers in so many different ways. For me, your manga was a light of laughter and happiness during days of pure darkness; you helped a desperate child to know the feeling of bliss; when I watched your anime and forgot all my worries… To many others, you taught friendship, loyalty, courage and adventure. You shared with us your fascinations, your love and your determination to believe in yourself when no one else would. For all this, you will remain in our memories, the most precious of our memories.

Today I pay my tribute to you and dedicate my series Golden Chains and Crown of Sand to you.

Thank you again, sensei. May you rest in peace.
