The Duke looked to the box and the roses, staring long and hard, not making a move to pick them up. It were as though he was contemplating whether or not the gifts were to blow up in smoke the second he took a hold of them. It was his birthday, true, but it was also that infernal “April Fools” day. It wouldn’t surprise him if he received more tricks than treats.
Letting out a long sigh, he knelt down and gathered the items into his arms. Then, he held his breath, waiting for the prank that was no doubt the pop in his face.
Knowing the Duke, Levi knew he would be really suspicious of the presents and think of them as a prank for today was the April’s Fools day. A day, which the Baskerville found rather pointless but amusing at the same time. So yes, he too did pull pranks on others, especially on his most favored servant. However, when it came to this particular person, there was no jokes nor ill intent hidden behind his actions. True, he waited in the room until Rufus saw the box and roses in order to see his reaction but it was only because he was very curious. He also wanted to make sure that this was not a bad joke and that if Rufus had any doubts he would be there to erase them.
And just as he guessed, he did have doubts.
“You need to trust me more, don’t you think?”
Approaching from behind, Levi whispered into the other’s ear in a playful tone and him a quick kiss on the cheek before pulling away in fear of getting hit by the famous fan of the Duke. Though his insolent grin only growing wider as he watched the other.
