Hey look it's my face.
The snake is an adult Acrantophis dumerili, Dumeril's Ground Boa. These snakes are widespread in the southern half of Madagascar. We found this individual in a cave during the day - I scratched my beautiful GPS in the attempt to extricate it. It was worth it. While it is an adult, it still has quite a bit of growing to do before reaching maximum size.
