Exploring Dunbeg Fort
The Dunbeg Fort wasn't as large as I thought it would be. I have seen other larger ones in the area. Like the other forts, it is also circular. It has a opening on one side of the fort which obviously serves as an entrance. It seems people back then weren't very tall as one may need to watch their head when they enter the fort. Fortunately, hitting your head should not be a problem since the inside of the fort is off limits to visitors. One can go around the fort to appreciate it but there is no going in.

Dunbeg Fort
Stone seems to be quite abundant in this part of Ireland. People over the ages have mastered use of stone to build different structures. Probably one of the most common ones back then were forts. They actually seem to be quite common here in county Kerry and I have already seen one in Staigue Fort which was in an excellent state of preserveration. Here in the Dingle Peninsula, it seems that there is another one - Dunbeg Fort. There was a nice parking area for vehicles and people pay the minimal entrance fee to visit the fort.

Going to Dunbeg Fort
I like how easy it is to explore county Kerry. The hordes of tourists which descend upon the county have helped improve the tourism infrastructure here in the county. I am talking specifically about signage. A lot of the important places here are well signposted and it is not even necessary to use a map here. The important thing here it not to drive fast and just take it slow and just watch out for the signs. Another one of the signs which I saw points to Dunbeg Fort. I have been to a few forts in Ireland, I think I have a very good idea how this Dunbeg Fort is.
