Dusty reading Tolkien UNDER THE BRIDGE (2024) [+] LGBTQ 🏳️🌈 [+] ..more on “Under the Bridge” 🎬
I think one of the second most heartbreaking scenes in episode 8 is with Reena and the girls under the bridge.
Having a pack of wild girls wanting to beat your ass and circling you is terrifying in itself. But maybe Reena wasn't as scared, because she knew one person would have her back: Dusty. Dusty seemed on board with the plan. She hated Josephine and Kelly just as much as Reena. Dusty seemed like she was willing to protect her only true friend.
So when she ultimately tells Josephine that more than one person is sick of her shit, she looks towards Dusty. And Dusty looks hesitant. She looks scared. And she just waits for Dusty to respond. That's what the plan was anyway, right? Dusty just glares at Reena with pure fear in her eyes, she's frozen, she doesn't know how to react. And Reena continues to wait for her response. She just waits. Josephine asks Dusty if she has a problem—which only sends Dusty into more of a panic because she's teetering on the line of defend Reena or don't defend Reena. She responds with a very panicked but trying to stay calm "No,". Josephine responds with "Hm?", a tactic to further scare Dusty. She knows that Dusty is fucking scared and she's using that to her advantage. And she responds with a slightly more panicked "No".
Its at this point Dusty realizes its either her life or Reena's, and she's not willing to sacrifice her life for Reena.
Reena looks so defeated, she probably feels like an idiot. She feels betrayed. She's shattered, at this point. She realizes that no one in this "friend group" is a real friend. That everyone used her for their own personal gain. All she can utter is a "sorry" because Dusty made her look like a complete fool. And all Dusty can do is blankly stare as Josephine throws her first punch at Reena's stomach, initiating the first assault. The first assault that Dusty participated in.
Under The Bridge — In The Water They Sink The Same
People you've been before
That you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still
Do what I say and I'll make you okay
And drive them away
The images stuck in your head
People you've been before
That you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still
