Mayqo'te - Day 16 Occult
Those Lambs of Dalamud are up to no good 😤
Estinien: This will hurt
WoL, twirling their hair: I sure hope it does
Estinien: ...what
So I've had Thancred and Alphie in my party as a healer now and boy were they a bit different the generic NPCs somehow. I don't know if that's by design or what but it definitely seems like they have their own personalities
I know it's mainly because he isn't the same kind of tankiness as other jobs, but I had to really babysit Thancred even in mob pulls. Also, he ran right passed a closer mob to pull the mobs further down the hall first and then brought them back to aggro the ones he initially ignored. Super weird and has never happened to me before. Why'd you do that, bro?
I had to give Alphie a scolding, because buddy kept standing in a whole other zip code and so didn't catch my heals with everyone else. Had to rez his ass. Quit straying so far!
So like is this normal? I've honestly never paid much attention to them, but now I must lol.
Look if Urianger can't keep up bc he decided to wear sandals on a wilderness trek, then it's HIS fault if we wipe, not mine.
I think that they definitely improved the Duty Support NPCs' abilities to heal in Dawntrail. At first I was wondering if I'd improved at Paladin, but there were several times I was doing a wall to wall where I'd fumble mitigation or take more damage than I should've and Alphinaud managed to save me, whereas in previous Duty Support dungeons one mistake was usually the end for me. In previous dungeons there were some segments where I couldn't pull two packs unless I had my invulnerability skill available, or was on Warrior, where I'm running into far fewer of those places in Dawntrail dungeons. I only really struggled with the level 91 dungeon, and even then I think it was a combination of being rusty with that job, less experience with that dungeon in particular, and my gear being weaker than was probably wise. The only place outside of there where I died outside of a boss fight was
Combined with how more talkative the NPCs are in and out of boss fights, I'm very happy with how Duty Support is improving and am looking forward to see how the people in charge of it improve the system in the future.
Here’s the full dialogue from the event log in Sohr Khai with Duty Support. There are some additional speech bubbles not included here that I still need to screenshot but it’s mostly just the battle lines.
lmao hey guys i made it to the level 57 dungeon in FF14 and look at this rando they threw in with the duty support NPCs
total redshirt energy
10 bucks this guy is gonna die before the end to show how high the stakes are
