📂.    Lady did not actually adopt her shorter hairstyle until she was older.        the longest she's ever had her hair touched the beginning of her thighs,   and that was somewhere in her teen years.        it should also be known that she's always had extremely thick hair,   so managing it at such a length   ( and at a young age too )    was always an endeavor and there was definitely more than one instance where she wanted to take the nearest pair of scissors and just chop it all off  —  which,   that was exactly what she did before finally discovering the specific style we see in DMC3.        since then,   she has it vary in shortness but either way,   she has no regrets about her decision.
