cursed

After years doing the work she did, Taeyeon liked to think that she was immune to mostly everything. Her obligation to Thanatos had her bringing news to families that no one wanted to hear, and so, she got more than her fair share of insults and death threats. The insults were easily ignored, and death threats were amusing since she still had yet to foresee her own death despite being threatened more times than she could count.
It was just when her typically appreciative clients seemed to view her with the same amount of distaste, that was when she noticed something was off. It had been years since she had noticed it, and it hurt a bit to have her clients treat her as such, but it wasn’t something she would bring up with anyone. She had a few people she still spent time with, some older women from a family just as ancient as Taeyeon’s own, which she met with maybe once a month, but they were friendly with her all the same. If they had treated her different, she may have spoken up, but it just seemed as if her clients were a bit irritable.
It had seemed that way, of course, until she was visiting said women one day and happened to hear their conversation regarding a young man who had moved to Uisu a few years ago. Taeyeon recognised the name: Kim Seokjin. She didn’t make a point of remembering her past clients’ loved ones, but he had thrown such a fit at his butler’s passing that Taeyeon couldn’t help but remember it.
“I can sense divine energy in him, but he also has such a dark aura. I feel as if he might end up cursing someone one day. Have you met him, Taeyeon?”
It made sense -- too much sense. Her memory of his words was a bit vague, but he had said something along the lines of don’t you have someone you care about and i hope you stay like this. Contrary to what the boy had believed, Taeyeon had once had people in her life she loved. It only seemed that Death loved them more.
Taeyeon quickly excused herself from the woman’s house -- she owed someone a visit. Thankfully, Seokjin’s house wasn’t in the heart of Uisu; it was too big to be. That fact did make it easier for Taeyeon to visit him, and though walking there took a while, Taeyeon was glad to make the trip. Kim Seokjin was going to pay. Approaching his house, Taeyeon knocked on the front door. “Kim Seokjin? My name is Kim Taeyeon. I wish to speak with you.”
