A DVVT’s work was handmade, technically unsophisticated, vernacular and direct. The architecture performed differently without trying to be radically new or original. It was theatrical but somewhat familiar. And its invention was more subtle, conceptual, painterly and compositional – as if architecture was thought of as a still life.  - MOS Architects
