Happy ThorsDay - Alviss

Well here we are another Thor’s Day and another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic) mythological characters. This week it’s Alviss the Omniscient and Wise.  

Dwarf (dwergaz ‘small spirit’, or ‘from great pressure’ Dverg / Dvergr / Dvergar / Dvergen / Dvarg / Dwarven) and Maker of weapons for Gods.  In exchange for his weapons he was promised the be married to Thrud, Thors Daughter.  While Thrud didn’t seem unhappy with the match, Thor was less than thrilled at this.  He told Alviss he had to prove his knowledge and wisdom in a challenge to prove his worthiness given his size.  He answered questions through the night and got a little too in the zone. While apparently all knowing, he was also easily distracted, and when the sun came and hit him he was turned to stone.  As some dwarfs do.  

And Alviss has left the building, likely ending up as a garden ornament.  I’d guess there wasn’t a wedding after that.
