Dying Light 1

"Being a Man" is the name of the opening music for Dying Light: The Beast when u reach the starting menu, and I realized this OST title is probably a subtle reference to Rais. In the first Dying Light game, a HUGE part of why Rais fucking loathed Crane and everything about him was because he didn't believe Crane was a 'man'.

By Rais’s definition, a man makes his OWN rules and OWN decisions, seizes/controls power by his OWN power, and in doing so, enforces his will on the world with no relent nor remorse.

Because Crane seemingly never made his Own decisions in Harran, only acting in the best interests of the others, and this quality led Crane to a life of profound misery and loss…Crane had a Long time to ponder Rais and his ideas when he was in captivity. I wonder if Crane recognized what placed him in his situation, and as he was trying to hold onto his own soul and identity in order to not crack and go nuts, he realized the true vision behind Rais’s idea of masculinity and identity as a man. Thusly, once we reach The Beast installment of the series, we start a game where almost all of Crane’s decisions are his own, especially concerning his personal desires and motivations.

In that respect, he is 'being a man', just as Rais threw his failure to do so in his face all those years ago. Isn't this all just so cool!??!?
