so, i’ve put over 270 hours into the game satisfactory, and it’s had me wanting to expand into the field of factory building/automation games more, and the obvious first step would be factorio since satisfactory is so often talked about like it’s the 3d version of factorio but… i dunno. i totally buy that factorio is a great game and probably the more complex game of the two. just looking at it reveals that it’s more focused on automation and complexity compared to satisfactory which focuses a lot more on vibes and immersion. but that’s sorta the problem for me, honestly. part of why i love satisfactory so much is because of the vibes, because it’s so zen, because i can spend hours designing my shitty barely functioning factories and then blow off some steam running around the world and collecting useful items for even more factory building. it’s mentally engaging, but not really that stressful, and factorio (from what i can tell) seems like it would be stressful. also it looks kinda ugly. not to be superficial, but yeah.
i do wanna try it eventually, but there’s actually a third factory building game that’s been critically acclaimed called dyson sphere program that looks absolutely fucking sick. just incredible. it seems like it’s more on the factorio side of things in terms of how building works, but it also seems like it has the vibes on the level of satisfactory. i really wanna try it out, cuz i think i could get totally lost in it if i let myself lol.
