Maybe it's the lack of sleep talking, but the Star Wars CIS(Confederacy of Independent Systems) kinda had a bigger impact on the world than the real Commonwealth of Independent States it got that acronym from
Idk, maybe everyone in the late 90s and early 2000s thought it'd be way more than it was, but it may as well not exist for how impactful it's been. The Eurasian Economic Union has had an impact on trade between its members and the CSTO did that one mission in Kazakhstan, but what has the real-world CIS actually done besides lose more and more of its original members?
To be clear, I'm not saying a movie trilogy had a bigger impact on the world than multiple sovereign nations, but rather that the impact the prequel trilogy had is bigger than that of the real-world CIS, since it's had basically zero impact at all as an organization and any post-Soviet collaboration has been done through other organizations like the EAEU, CSTO, or Russia's Union State with Belarus that's turned the latter into another federal subject in all but name.
