The International Convention of Asia Scholars has published its list for the 2017 annual book prize. Among the 15 titles in the humanities section are monographs by Professor Brian Bernards, Professor Sunyoung Park, and Professor Satoko Shimazaki.
The 30 books in the combined disciplines of humanities and social sciences were selected from 330 titles. Congratulations to Brian, Sunyoung, and Satoko on this remarkable achievement!

Edith Conn, a Sophomore studying International Relations and East Asian Languages and Cultures, has been awarded the 2017 National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarship. Edith will be using this scholarship to study at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan for the 2017-2018 school year. She is one of five USC students to have received this scholarship this year. As part of the NSEP Boren Scholarship requirements, Edith must fulfill one year of federal service after graduating USC, and she plans to do so by volunteering with Peace Corps in Southeast Asia.
