“he’s not me” is the sexiest thing aaron has ever said as if robert could resist that
this pic makes me really truly understand why aaron has been willing to burn down his life for robert over and over and over again. i want to cradle him like a baby. i love him so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so bad. so bad. he’s just a small baby. my nearly 40 year old baby.
it all feels a bit too convenient to be true that when kev thinks robert is pulling away again (in a sense) because he’s not jumping for joy at the prospect of kev moving in and fobs him off a bit, that all of a sudden what sounds like roberts worst tormentor in prison has murdered someone. a fate that kev himself saved robert from. my alarm bells are going off like klaxons
i’m going to throw UP. aaron looks so upset and terrified. he doesn’t want to have to be dealing with john. hes worried about robert and he’s terrified to lose the love of his life again. someone please give this man a hug (not you john)
over and over again. it just feels like robert treated his life in prison and his life outside of prison as two entirely separate things and now they’re colliding and he can’t stop it and he also has no idea what to do about it. because prison robert is a version of himself he had to be to survive and he didn’t think prison roberts life would follow him back to emmerdale but it has and wtf is he supposed to do now. because i don’t think robert has the words to articulate what happened to him in prison because he’s so determined to treat it as something that happened to another version of himself that doesn’t exist anymore. delicious angst all around
no im. this is even better than i could have imagined. like robert had self isolated himself entirely from everyone he knew and loved and ended up in a prison where he was getting his head kicked in on a daily basis. and then kev comes along and offers him protection and the first bit of care and affection he’s had since he cut aaron and his family off - and maybe that was months or years after all the bullying and violence had begun and robert would have been so beaten down and broken by the situation, staring down the barrel of a life sentence with no hope of release or appeal. so of course he took whatever kev offered - the protection, the love, the affection. he was lonely and terrified and sure he was about to spend 14 years in prison. but he appealed and now he’s out and he’s got a chance to repair the relationship with the love of his life, aaron. except. kev isn’t a man you just ignore - or divorce. today proved that. kev is entirely in control here - and robert sees a way out in waiting for him to die and ok sure he’d inherit the money but i think a part of robert knows the only way he’s getting out of this marriage is if kev is dead. you just don’t get to leave and divorce a man like that.
this is going to be horrifying. ryan hawley best actor nom at the bsas i see the vision
both interesting and terrifying to have robert confirm he spent years with kev because like. this wasn’t a quick few months. this was years of a relationship that was deeply coercive in nature - and a dynamic where robert has felt he owed kev his life for years. hope they delve into those complicated feelings more because of course robert does care deeply for him but also. all those years inside with kev as his only saviour. does he even Realise what really happened to him? i don’t think he entirely does
aaron and robert really need to have that screaming match because until they do i fear things will continue to be very. flat.
and listen. it’s intentional. because aaron is still deep down sooooo furious at robert for the divorce and everything that came after. he’s not ready to be with robert and he doesn’t know this version of robert, not really - he’s pinning all his happiness on the idealised version of robert he’s carried in his head and heart for six years. and there’s just no way they can be happy until they both come to terms with the fact they’re different people and they can never get the 2018/19 version of their relationship back. that’s gone forever. but they can be happy in a different way. once they’ve had an earth shattering argument about it All.
