Hold on!
This eastern grey squirrel looked like it was holding on for dear life. Charlie ran it up the tree. I thought that it would stay there, perhaps for the rest of the day or at least until Charlie went inside. But the little squirrel turned out to be much bolder than I gave it credit.
Just seconds after I snapped the photograph, the squirrel turned around ran down the tree and went around the east side of the shed to get to the hole under the fence. But Charlie went around the west side and blocked the squirrels exit. Charlie chased the squirrel, who feinted going back up the tree, but only went a few feet and back down the other side of the tree and dashed for the hole under the fence. The deception gave the squirrel enough of a lead that, even as fast a Charlie is, the squirrel escaped.
