Happy Halloween! 🎃 Our boys we’re both Spider-Man (but different ones). Jalen has his last day at preschool yesterday and starts kindergarten tomorrow! Such a bittersweet moment for us to say goodbye to Building Kidz School in SSF. We’ve been bringing our kids there for 6+ years (E since he was 15 months and J since he was 4 months). Prior to finding this daycare for E when we moved to SSF, we had a really bad experience with a large family home daycare, and pulled him just after 1.5 weeks. I was so grateful that we found BK, and immediately felt at peace leaving E with the caregivers there. Seeing them hold and comfort him in the first few weeks of being at a new place showed me that they actually cared about the children and were patient with them. Since then, the boys have made so many memories from all the arts performances, the parties, the teachers, and the fun friends. And they have both been super well-prepared for Kinder. We’re definitely going to miss Ms. Jackie (first picture) who has loved both our boys since they were little babies. ❤️ And we’ll miss Building Kidz School! Got to witness how far Elijah’s determination could take him during our trip last week. We went to the YMCA’s pool in PA during the last hour, and E really wanted to go on the tube slides, but in order to go into that pool, you have to pass the Yellow AND Green test. 🏊🏼♂️ With 30 minutes left, he decided he REALLY wanted to go on those slides. So we practiced a bit and I felt confident that he could pass the Yellow, but wasn’t so sure he could swim the whole length for the Green test. He proved to me that he could swim pretty far using any technique and could switch to backstroke when he got tired. So I encouraged him to go ahead and take the tests. He took the Yellow test, and passed with flying colors. 🙌 Then for the Green test, the guy said he had to do freestyle for 25 yards and I was like uh oh - because he’s been learning freestyle crawl during his lessons, but he’s not that strong in it, so was worried he wouldn’t be able to make it. But E had those slides in sight, and was super determined to get that Green band. He swam all 25 yards doing freestyle, and I was SO PROUD OF HIM! I’m so sad I didn’t get it on video because I was so shocked just watching him go, go go. Then he tread water for a minute. And then he back float for 15 seconds, which he wasn’t able to do when we were practicing so I guess he does better under pressure??
