Huh. That's basically been my eating pattern my entire adult life. Not something I planned, just what feels natural to me. Fingers crossed next week will be a better one for you, in any case!

The hardest thing for me has been to stop eating at 8pm. I never realized how many calories I blow, and how much I mentally rely on, drinking alcohol and eating sugary things when I sit down to watch a show or movie in bed. In less than a week, I’ve gone from 3-4 drinks a night to a single glass of wine or bourbon right after dinner. And a small one at that, because I need to finish it by 8pm. Bet I’m saving at least 500 calories a day on alcohol alone.

Red: 5 facts about my best friendoooh you had to pick that one, wench.

I don’t have single best friend per se.  I have a series of circles of friendship.  If that makes sense.  I’m an inadvertently intimidating and rather prickly person with a terrible knack for pulling the wrong levers with people (to paraphrase What Katy Did)  But I shall give you a selection about people from the closest one:

1) Purple. It crops up a rather large amount for some reason. 

2) Real Talk.  I reserve my closest circle for people I can Real Talk with - this means actually sitting down and picking apart things in a deep manner, usually passionately-dispassionately.  Some of it is from shared experience.  Some of it is just intrinsic nature -  myself and one friend in particular have the same ability to disassociate what for most people would be scenarios that are based entirely on emotion from emotion entirely, which is vastly, vastly valued.3)  Touch. I am one of those people who doesn’t like to be touched, but at the same time rather craves it. Cat psychology.  If I let you touch me, rest assured you are in the most highest of circles.   If you are not part of this circle, you will know. I’m terribly bad at hiding my discomfort and even anger in these situations (mostly because I don’t particularly care to).   

4)  Intelligence. Not just being “smart”, but the ability to take blocks of thinking and disassemble and reassemble them in new ways, or even completely reinvent them as new information comes to hand.   A static mind is a dead mind.   (That said, there are things that Should Not Be Touched, but that’s drifting into moral lines that I cannot countenance crossing - usually any attempt to denigrate social services, or animal cruelty.  Or being a cunt)

5)  Respect.  If I cannot respect you, then I just can’t. Not sorry. This doesn’t preclude us being friends, but it does mean you will not be an innermost circle one.    It cuts both ways, if we are close friends I have *earned* (or at least bloody hope so) your respect in turn. 

Plus all my closest friends are dirty minded shitweasels.  That helps

I think the complication is that a lot of people engage in bullying under the *guise* of social justice, or calling out legitimately bigoted behaviour. People are failing to distinguish between legitimate criticism and harassment/dogpiling, because people engaging in the latter co-opt the language of the former.

yeah that’s an apt assessment i think. Perversely though I think that people who don’t actually care about social justice generalise all criticism as “drama” and “bullying” so that they can continue to ignore people they interact with exhibiting harmful behaviours and worldviews. 

I am also against the groupthink attacking that starts to happen after real problems are called out but I think both extremes are harmful
