Many of the things I concoct are inventive, but I doubt very seriously I am the actual inventor of anything. These beans were packed with extra flavor tonight, with the addition of a couple of anchovies in the cooking process; new to me, but I know I’m not the first. And I am so not the inventor of toasted bread rubbed with the cut side of a tomato, which is much more than the sum of its parts. A finishing drizzle of lemon-paprika oil was very nice, too. To conclude, I am grateful for all of the cooking traditions passed down by our foremothers, and all of the tweaks of our contemporaries. Cooking is a living art, and eating is living! These @rancho_gordo Coronas deserve another post...they are phenomenal! Yes, the humble bean can provoke rapture. These are cooked up with aromatics, tomato paste and leftover sludge from a roasted chicken dinner.
