There is one bittersweet detail from a prior work (technically of them) that will be relevant in a future chapter of Reunion.
I wonder if you can figure it out.

Spoilers without context for Chapter 5 6 of Reunion
(Note from Tutti 4/6/26: I yapped too close to the sun and chapter 5 ran too long. All but one of these gifs now applies to chapter 6.)
Oh yeah slightly unrelated ask (but still sorta related thanks to chapter 3): we know what Yukito and Hideko's thoughts are on Juliana but what about the other way round? What does Juliana's mother think of Kieran?
Ohoho, a fun ask!
I think Juliana enjoys being with Yukito and Hideko. They’re very calm and collected, and she so needs that after the chaos in her personal life.
On her first visit, Yukito waxed poetic about maskmaking and showed her around his shop, while Hideko was quick to offer her tea and snacks upon her first visit to their home. They’re delighted that Kieran has such a nice new friend, and they notice how attentive he is to her already. They exchange knowing glances, but stay quiet for now.
Julie appreciates how much they made her feel at home in Kitakami, and she quietly wonders if this is what having grandparents feels like. She never met her mother’s parents, and Dean’s folks were not involved in her life.
(And Carmine nudged Kiki the whole time, making little comments about how much they already like his girlfriend. Cue Kiki blushing deeply, but not wanting to deny the fact they aren’t dating yet. Oh dear sweet summer child… give it a couple more years.)
More deleted scenes for Secret Admirer haha.
Susanna knew of him after Julie’s return home from Kitakami the first time. Julie talked to her mom about how much she feared she ruined the friendship with that miscommunication; Susanna encourages her to find a way to talk it out with him. Pair this encouragement with the photo Carmine took and Julie was off to BBA.
Once things get resolved and Julie invites Kieran to visit Paldea, Susanna meets him and adores him. She is impressed with the level of care he treats her daughter with, and picks up right away that they get along veeeery well. She lets him know he’s welcome to visit any time, and their guest room is always open to him. Cue embarrassed but grateful Julie. “Oh god my crush gets to stay in my house aaaAAAA-“
She is delighted when they finally get together, and well, we’ve seen how excited she was about the thought of grandchildren. She spoils Himiko rotten and someone else in time. 💙
Let’s balance out the angst I posted yesterday with some cuteness.
Papa Kiki with his hair down - the unruly hair is loose lol.
I like to think Julie is the only person he’d let cut his hair (after growing up with his grandma giving him haircuts).
I’ll never get over how this game expects the player character to shrug off major traumatic events and carry on with life.
This element has influenced my interpretation of Julie in the Eavesdropper series. Girl has been through Entirely Too Much.
Even as an adult, she’s dealing with the aftereffects of her near death experiences ✨adventures in Area Zero✨
Updated June 24th, 2026. Also, I’ve added the canon timeline to my AO3 profile description!
I realized that new readers to the Eavesdropper series might be a little lost with the timeline. (I admit I’ve jumped around a LOT and my new works are absolutely not in chronological order.)
🍏So, here’s a rough outline of the proper timeline for The Eavesdropper Series! 🍎
💜Long list is long, so you’ll find it below the cut. FYI contains potential future fic hints 😇
I realized something funny today while brainstorming for Ch. 2 of “Secret Admirer.”
Rotomphones can talk, and are especially chatty during teen Julie’s adventure. Yet adult Julie’s phone only chimes and dings.
…I’ve come to the conclusion that, like any overstimulated adult in need of peace and quiet, she leaves her phone on silent nowadays.
Got two to ask.
Did anything inspire you for some specific plot points/ideas in the Eavesdropper series?
Is there anything outside of Eavesdropper that you plan on writing some day?
Very good questions! Also, happy May the 4th - may the Force be with you always. ✨
Yes, I’ve drawn from a few irl people and events in my life to form certain key elements in the Eavesdropper series. Some points are heavier than others to talk about, but others are lighter.
Penny’s role in the story is inspired a bit by my dear friend who was responsible for me and my fiancé meeting. Without her, I’d never have met my own love of my life.
Dean is… well, I’ll leave that be.
The double rings are my favorite irl inspiration. I very nearly gave my fiancé a ring in return, after learning a waitress at a favorite restaurant of his tried to flirt with him. He very politely told her he was taken and I was hellbent for about a week researching what sort of ring suited him (and what I could afford, which admittedly wasn’t much at the time).
I finally asked him if he liked a certain ring I had picked out. He told me that he’d prefer to wait for our wedding bands instead, but appreciated the gesture. Kieran’s ring design is pretty close to the one I’d picked out for my fiancé.
As for other stories, I’ve got two in mind.
One is a “what-if Akira and Aria had lived?” story. I like to think they moved to Kitakami after Aria’s health scare for a slower pace of life, and perhaps Akira has inherited the family mask-making business. And once Julie comes to town, the whole family takes an interest in Kieran’s budding love life. Lol
The other is…a lot more ambitious. I’ve had a magical girl style idea in my back pocket for over a year, and have been chipping away at details to make it all make sense. Not sure if “Crystal Soldier Sailor Paldea” will ever see the light of day, but I can dream.
