Oh, and my third ebay Global Shipping Program package arrived (technically to a family member since I was broke the weekend the auction ended). Surprise surprise, no delivery slip this time either. I emailed customer service at the shipping company, but I’m not sure what the point is. I have a feeling they will either 1) laugh at me for expecting a notice on paper in this day and age (well yeah, since everybody else uses it and unless otherwise noted? And since ebay seems to be deliberately making it as hard as possible to find the company who actually does the final delivery, yeah, an actual tangible piece of evidence that the package is ready for pickup would actually be really helpful, thank you) and b) ask me to take it up with ebay instead, which, I guess, but ahahaha come on. Maybe posting about it where prospective customers can see it has more of an effect, but seriously? Hahaha.

Not that PostNord is any less useless, but at least they’re useless in a way I’m all too familiar with. They‘ve officially lowered their expected delivery times now: two days for a regular letter. Remind me why we ever deregulated the postal market again?

Accidentally stumbled upon an auction of a thing I've wanted for ages with one hour left, bid and actually won it, at a decent price. Whoa. Free market pricing machine broken today, I guess. I was so caught up in the auction stress that I realized too late I should have asked the seller about the shipping first. They only offered "expedited" shipping, at a price that's only marginally reasonable if you take into account what some people ask for this particular piece of doll furniture. But I didn't want to kick up a fuss after the auction ended, and "expedited" sounds quick at least, which might be nice for a change (although I'm broke and if given the option I'll gladly wait a month if it means shaving a couple of $/£/€ off the price). Well, during checkout it turned out that the "expedited shipping" was in fact ebay's Global Shipping Program From Hell. Or rather Via Hell The Scenic Route With An Extra Layover In Purgatory and Dante's Outhouse. Which I should have guessed (the sum seemed familiar). The thing about the GSP is that not only is it expensive but also SLOW. Last time (which I swore was the last time) it took two weeks for a package from the UK to Sweden. TWO weeks. Normal packages (Royal Mail) usually takes less than one. Normal packages from the US (USPS First Class) usually takes less than two weeks. Nothing sent within the European Union should take two weeks to arrive (maybe to France - I've heard horror stories). At least within the EU they don't slap their ridiculous inflated flat import charges on top of it as well. (Wonder if ebay gets to keep the difference? I bet they do.) I guess ebay thinks it's great, an maybe it's great for sellers (convenient? extra protection? idk) and maybe if you're sending stuff to Svalbard or something it's not that much slower than regular mail, but apart from that it's pretty much useless. So yeah: ebay Global Shipping Program, not a fan.
