10-15 of the language lovers questions :)
10 & 14 here, 11 & 13 here.
12. Is there a language you have just given up on although you really wanted to master it?
Yes, Korean. I tried for almost a couple of years but unless I find any actual classes I can attend, I’m fine without knowing it.
15. What aspect{s} of language interests you?
Phonology (as well as phonetics generally). I love how one same vowel can be pronounced differently in a single word (e.g. Australia).
3, 5, 9, 10, 11, 14, 22
11 answered here.
3. Are there any minority languages in your country? Are you interested in them?
Yes! One day I would like to learn Northern Sami because it’s a Sami language with the most speakers but also Inari Sami because it’s the only Sami language spoken in Finland only :)
5. How many languages can you speak and on what level?
Finnish (native)
English (advanced)
Swedish (conversational)
Norwegian (conversational though i might mix up with swedish)
French (intermediate)
Italian (beginner)
9. How many languages are you learning at the moment {self-study counts} ?
At the moment, only Italian on Memrise. But I’m taking English, Swedish, French, Italian, and Russian when school starts again in August.
10. What languages would you like to learn in the {near} future?
I’m really looking forward to actually taking Italian courses in school this year, and I’m also starting Russian. Some day I would like to understand Estonian as it’s so similar to Finnish but I don’t know if I’ll ever find the time or energy to actually start studying it.
14. Do you have favourite words ?
I’m quite fond of the Finnish word for jellyfish, “meduusa”. I’m proud of our swearing culture and my most used swear just might be “perseensuti” (= ass brush).
22. What is the hardest language to learn in your opinion?
I learned the Korean alphabet but the language was too much. I’ve never taken German but it makes absolutely no sense to me. And surprisingly, Estonian seems quite hard even though it should be a piece of cake for me. But I’d definitely say Korean is one of the hardest.
11 and 13 bae

11. Do you prefer attending courses / classes or learning on your own? Why?
I prefer attending classes because I’m an auditive type of a learner and I’ve noticed that I learn better when listening to someone else read to me out loud than reading on my own.
13. Is {are} there word{s} you just always misspell?
approximately, exaggerate, and “they’re” instead of “their” for some reason.
Hey don't worry about it - I was in the exact situation as you I moved from the UK to Australia, leaving some of my friends of 7 years and it's rough, but you'll make friends after some time and it'll be great <3
I actually feel bad right now because I’m still going to live in the same town with my friends. I just didn’t see them very often outside school, so I guess I’m not going to see them in the future either ;;
But thank you, nice anon. I wish you all the good :)
