This double vase represents a visual blending of cultures: the shape is derived from pre-Columbian vessels; the bands of gold stylized chrysanthemums are from Japanese sources; and the deep blue glaze, which may have been chosen by Minton, recalls Sèvres porcelain.

Expressionist and primitivist - Francesco Garieri living and working in Metz, Lorraine, France. In his paintings he explores corporations and individuals, war and peace and the media.
The themes of my work are many and varied. For example, I’m interested in the evolution of our society, and the effects of technology upon mankind and our evolution. Technology has the ability to end wars and impact social differences, but its consumption can also pollute the world, and destroy nature. Is it possible for technology to contribute to making us slaves of a system of thought that will speed the decline of the human race, creating a large-scale disaster? My job as an artist is to express the moment to the observer facing his or her own issues and conscience.
I like to mix techniques and styles in the same work, while keeping the freedom of intuition at the time of creation. I think that this brings life to my work, and sometimes I cover parts of the canvas that don’t suit my needs; I build and deconstruct until I find a balance in the composition.
