Just seen that echowavelength tagged me in a thing. Here is that thing! 1) What is your favourite song by the Mountain Goats? Why? Four New Trees. I like trees a lot. I like lovely music. This song has trees and lovely music. And it makes me think of woods in Wales :)) idk if it's meant to mean anything more symbolic, but I just enjoy hearing about trees and how different they all are. 2) If you were given a million pounds right now, but had to spend them in the next 24 hours, what would you do? Pay off my parents' mortgage, then frantically search for good educational and health-based charities and foodbanks that would be able to process the money on a Friday night/Saturday. I know that sounds really self-righteous, but I've been v. preoccupied recently with the gross poverty and lack of healthcare and sufficient education all over the world (including the UK), 'cause these issues seem to be at the root so many problems. It seems silly not to put money towards them, especially since so many poorly-funded but highly effective programmes are already set up. Lookin' at you, actual millionaires... 3) What book do you think everyone should read? 'Everyday Sexism' by Laura Bates. I just finished it, and it is an incredible evidence-based outline of the main ways misogyny and patriarchy manifest themselves in the UK. I reckon it would very effectively move the debate on from 'does sexism still exist?' to 'how the fuck do we sort out this massive worldwide problem?' AND Amy Poehler's book, 'Yes Please'. It's not out yet, so I haven't actually read it, but I already know that it's the best book ever written. Like, it's Amy Poehler. She's written a book. With words from her brain. How could it be anything other than the greatest text in human history?! 4) You each know two of the other people on the list of tagged people. What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of those people? 'Green!' and 'Red!', probably due to the general colours of their profile pictures. Boring, sorry :P 5) Socks - necessity or luxury? Necessity. I very much dislike not wearing socks. I will not take my socks off unless I absolutely have to. Very few people have seen me without socks. Consequently, I take care to buy awesome socks. 6) What is the most precious thing you own? Either a book called 'Five Dolls in a House', which shaped much of my childhood, or a crocheted blanket that my Granny's best friend made me when I was born. 7) Do you have an ambition right now? What is it? Somehow work out how to get paid to study and learn awesome things (mostly history) for the rest of my life. 8) Who is your favourite famous person called David? (or Dave, whatever) David Tennant. Lovely man. 9) Can you make cake? Yes. At uni, I often spontaneously make Victoria sponges when there are no other snacks in the flat, partly to procrastinate, and partly because I just fucking love cake. 10) What compulsion do you currently have? I have recently developed a combination of compulsively snacking (particularly chocolate hobnobs and clementines), and compulsively exercising to the point of collapse and/or nausea due to guilt about all the snacks. I feel like this might be bad for me in some way, but meh. Gotta fill the compulsive void somehow :) MOAR QUESTIONS for echowavelength, meefu, skybread, fleurmiones, andkatiemakesfive and anyone else that wants to join in! 1) What do you hope to achieve tomorrow? 2) Have you ever made blondies (white chocolate brownies) and if so, how do they compare to brownies? 3) If you could suddenly play any song/piece of music on any instrument perfectly, which song/piece would you play first and what would the instrument be? 4) Describe your idea of a perfect chocolate brownie. 5) What was your favourite activity as a child? 6) What book are you reading at the moment and why did you choose it? 7) Candles. Delightful or pointless? 8) If you stood a genuine chance of being elected Prime Minister, would you go for it? 9) If you made a movie, would it be live-action or animation? Why? 10) On your birthday, what is your favourite way of being wished a 'happy birthday'? (As you may have guessed, I was eating a brownie while writing these questions.)
