I don’t like it when people forget/remove Danny’s humanity.

What’s the point of being half-ghost if we just ignore the human half?

Danny’s humanity is super important to his character.

It also gives him the unique position of feeling like an outcast among two groups at times, like he doesn’t fully belong anywhere. And it’s an important foil with Vlad, who barely acts human at all and looks far less human as a ghost.

I know that Phantom Planet is ‘meh’ on a good day and a huge pile of steaming garbage on most others, but.

You can pry that Amethyst Ocean kiss from my cold dead dinosaur hands.

Even at the time it aired, it was so much more than I would have expected from the show. I was thinking something like the second fake-out make-out, where they just have their lips pressed together and maybe like, the camera would spin, you know, like a lot of cartoons do (RobxStar in Trouble in Tokyo comes to mind).

But instead we got so much more than that? Like say what you will about PP (and I’ll likely agree with you), but I feel like a lot of love went into the animation/execution of that kiss. It delivered to me, as a DxS fan, everything that had simmered between these two for seasons.

And honestly? I’m 33 and I still can watch the clip or see gifs of that part and I’ll be like giggling and kicking my feet. Butterflies, man! It’s just soooo cute, and it feels like such a relief to the characters.

It’s the body language I can never get over. Sam curling his hand over the ring, Danny grabbing her biceps, Sam leaning forward to kiss him on the cheek; just going for it, even though she’d rather kiss him on the mouth, because it’s possibly the end of the world.

Danny’s surprised face, the way he grabs her chin and gently gets her to look up at him. The brief eye lock, the way they’re so close their noses are touching. The way they both move in to kiss at the same time, completely in sync like they always are. Danny bringing his hands up to cup either side of her face and hold her close because he cherishes her goddamnit. Sam’s lil leggie coming up a bit, the way they lean their foreheads together afterward.

Absolute cinema.

Absolute relief, after way too much dancing around things.

I just wasn’t anticipating so much face holding and touching to be involved I guess? A lot of cartoons like DP stick to the bare minimum so it was a very welcome surprise.

(Like man, not even in a spicy way, but just a super long-time-coming-needy way, but when he grabs her face I can practically see the lip dragging that would be happening if it were a live action clip.)

If there’s one little thing I like to keep from PP, it’s this. It made young me a happy fan, it makes old me a happy fan. It’s a highlight in a fairly lackluster episode.

Something I drew on my phone with my finger, in order to try and keep some sanity between calls at work.

Just a little concept for my Primordial Pools lore. Deep, deep in the Ghost Zone, past the last scattered purple doors, where the sky gets darker and darker, float the Primordial Pools at the fringes of the Realm. Every so often, the calm ectoplasmic lakes start to bubble and churn, and eventually something new crawls out.

They say there’s a Guardian that watches over them, as ancient as the Realms themselves. Just rumors, though.

Basically, this is where the beings that were never human come from. To my understanding, it seemed clear in the show that some ghosts were dead humans, and some were simply creatures born of the Zone. And that’s how I’ve always interpreted it myself. I refuse to believe characters like Wulf, the Far Frozen, Skulker, etc were ever human.
