The episode Future Echoes of Red Dwarf first aired on Febuary 22, 1988. In the episode, as the Red Dwarf travelled at light speed, the crew witnessed echoes of a possible futures, including Lister losing an arm and having kids. The episode was also the first appearance of some of the AI devices, including the vending machines and the talkie toaster, as well as introduced Rimmer's necrobics, and Lister's space bike. The episode also revealed that Rimmer's hologram was programmed to simulate hair growth and later episodes would reveal he was programmed to appear to age as well. I've decided to rewatch Red Dwarf from the beginning again lol because we now have to wait until September for the next live zoom commentary :(

Howard Goodall's music in Red Dwarf is amazing and I'm now going to appreciate it even more after watching him on the commentary today :)

The first episode of the long running series Red Dwarf first aired on Febuary 15, 1988. The episode titled "The End" set up the series. Crew member Dave Lister (Craig Charles) was placed in suspended animation for illegally smuggling a cat aboard the ship Red Dwarf. When he was revived, he discovered that he was in animation for up to 3 million years and everyone had been wiped out from a radiation leak. The only ones to keep him company were the ships AI called Holly (Norman Lovett), a hologram of his annoying bunkmate Arnold Rimmer (Chris Barrie) and an ancestor of his cat that had evolved into a humanoid (Danny John-Jules).
