(for those who don't want to see my posts on this, I'm tagging them "ed zine")
So I've had a few people ask me about zine submissions. A lot of people have never submitted to a zine, but I've never written one like this so it'll be new for both of us!
As far as submissions themselves, I'll accept anything that can be printed on a piece of paper, and it should preferably be in b&w to keep printing costs down. If you're submitting an image to be used for the cover (which would be awesome) that can be in color. Beyond that it's up to you. It can be anything from a short poem explaining your entire experience, to a 3-page story about one doctor visit. Please don't be afraid that anything is too silly or emotional or embarrassing. Some of the best writing I've ever read has come from vulnerable places, and I won't reject anything because of that.
Your submission must be on topic. "fat" isn't always easy to define, but use your best judgement.
Make sure I get your email address; I won't publish it, but I will need it to contact you once the zine is finished.
Tell me in the submission what name you want published. This can be as simple as your first name. If you don't want a name attached to your work, I'll just label it anonymous.
That's it! I'll publish almost every submission I get, unless I get a hundred of them and have to be selective. If that happens, I'll probably just include the rest in a future issue. As long as a submission stays on topic, I'll probably publish it.
submissions can be sent through tumblr, but I'd prefer if you emailed them to BlackCatZines (at) gmail (dot) com
