Eder Jofre, Brazil’s greatest boxer, has passed away.

Sad news as Eder Jofre, the greatest Brazilian boxer and one of the greatest boxers ever period, has passed at 86 years old. He was Brazil’s first ever world champion, going 72-2-4 (50 KOs) over his career. He first won the bantamweight title in 1960(NBA) - 1961 (Ring Magazine) before capturing the more recognizable WBA and WBC titles in 1963 and 1964 respectively. In 1973 he’d go on to win the WBC featherweight title.

In 2002, Jofre’s accomplishments landed him #19 on the Ring Magazine’s list of greatest fighters of the last 80 years. He also grabbed the #85 spot on the Ring’s 100 greatest punchers in the history of the sport.
