Bi Pirates were trending on Tiktok and sooooo I thought I would draw Edik back in her pirating days uwu. Inknow I haven't gone in depth with her backstory yet cuz that's not supposed to come up for a whiiiiiiiiiile in the fic, so I won't give any details, but here she is uwu
This is Maev! My little witch character for Moomins. She is my main character for the fic Witch’s Garden on AO3!
The best aunt is Crime Aunt Edik. Not actually related to anybody, just that good friend of the family that more or less is part of the family. She was (and probably still is) Joxter’s enabler.
The Middy, little gardener boy, is still in the fleshing out process. Boyfriend of Alucard.
The Baterlin, created by my much younger stepsister who really wanted to make a character after seeing mine haha. She had me draw her for her.
Alucard, Witch OC of @dumb-shtuff-man. A good boy, friend of salamanders, and Middy’s tol BF.
@cardcaptor3 ‘s OC who I love the design for!!!! I finally got my new tablet o draw herrrrrrrrr. I get the feeling she and Edik would probs get along tbh
Got a small bit of writing to accompany this bit of mermaid AU featuring Edik (and her past name!! The one forgottennnnnn) and Mer!Joxter! Gonna put this below the cut, though.
I’ll be posting Joxter’s full mer design as soon as this is up!
Anyone in their right mind wouldn’t have taken to the ocean in a gale such as this, but sure enough a rowboat hits the waters from the side of a much larger ship. The dark waters churn, tossing is away quickly. Those running around onboard wouldn’t notice it missing until the storm ends. Waves crash violently around the small boat and its single occupant who rows with every ounce of strength they have, struggling to keep the boat on some sort of course.
No course can be kept in a storm like this. It was only a matter of time before it was capsized.
How she had managed to cling to the bottom of the boat throughout the whole storm is something he would never understand. Holding on as she did tired her out, the last of her strength used. She slowly slips further in the water as her consciousness fades.
The feeling of arms around her, pushing her up to the surface again, wakes her. She coughs violently once her head is above water. A soft grunt of pain escapes her as she’s tossed halfway into her now upright boat. She pulls herself inside, then peeks back over the edge to peer into the water for what helped her.
There’s a light rocking as weight is put on the other side of the boat. The sailor holds her breath as she turns. There, head resting on arms folded on the side of her boat, is a man. No ordinary man, she knows. No human.
His skin is a murky brown with patches of green, his nose is especially green. The fins which protrude from the sides of his head flap gently. Dark brown hair clings to his face, from under it stare two solid blue eyes. He stares silently at her, and she at him. She’s nervous, as there have never been tales of lone sailors to survive an encounter with a merperson. If they had, there would be stories about it.
“You’re a pirate.” He states, pointing at her with a webbed hand, the ends of his fingers curl into dark, curved claws. Her breath hitches, it’s a very small boat, he’s nearly touching her.
She looks from the claw to his eyes, “Not any more.”
He draws his hand back, cocking his head slightly. Not anymore? Can they just quit like that? She mentions she’s trying to get back to her home country. The merman’s head fins stiffen at the name.
“That’s not far from here.” He says, turning his head to look to the east. “It’s maybe a two day swim for me.”
“Please, help me get there!” the woman exclaims, but she falls back when he turns to look at her with blank blue eyes. The stormy hue of them is quite unsettling.
“It’s about a week’s swim with your boat in tow…” he contemplates for a moment. “In exchange, I want you to tell me your tales.”
He wants her to tell him about everything. About her home country, her adventures, her pirating. The way he says it would remind anyone of an excited stranger simply wanting to hear everything of an adventurer’s life. But she knows better. This is going to be his way of judging her. Any rotten pirate knows you should never lie to the merfolk, they can see right through them. They drag wrongdoers into the deepest depths and devour them. But there’s never been a tale of them judging you first – probably because pirates truly are rotten and irredeemable, or maybe this is a behavior unique to this particular merperson.
She agrees, knowing fully well her story is not one of wrongdoings, at least not ones she committed willingly. She hopes he sees it that way, too.
“My name is Josephine.” She introduces herself as she wrings out her long auburn hair. He smiles a sharp-toothed smile and introduces himself as Joxter.
As,promised here is the Crime Aunt of Moominland, Edik. She's an artist living her best hermit life in the forest on the mountains. She's not actually anybody's aunt, but she is fun to have around.
I don't have all the details pressed out yet, but she knows all the parents, is p good friends with them. Amnesic and doesn't remember her past much at all (or does she), and always gives really obscure and strangely specific advice ("Don't be taken in by pirates"/"Don't get adopted by a crime family").
