Lídia Fernandes+Edite Alberto, Board games carved in stone, research, Lisboa, Portugal, 2011
ABSTRACT The ongoing survey, in national territory, of board games carved in stone (or ceramics) has showed a heritage that was, so far, unsuspected. The paper that we now present is focused on the city of Lisbon, where a high number of these board games can be found, being chronologically distributed over several centuries. The purpose of this paper is to show this heritage and to evidence some reasons that might justify its emergence, concentration and permanence over time, not only in Lisbon, but also in other parts of the country.
