The worst horror, certainly for any visitors to Edith Grove, was the pile of unwashed dishes in the “kitchen,” the substances growing out of the crockery, the greasy, cold pans piled in junked pyramids of foulness that no one could bear to touch. Yet it is true that one day we looked at this mess, Phelge and I, and thought that there was perhaps nothing else to do than to clean it. Given that Phelge was one of the filthiest people in the world, that was some historic decision. But that day we were overwhelmed by the amount of rubbish and so we went downstairs and stole a bottle of washing-up liquid.

You hold my heart
Is there any info on Mick, Keith, and Brian living together? I wonder what was it like.
Yes, 102 Edith Grove was the one-bedroom flat in Chelsea where Mick, Keith, and Brian all lived together beginning in 1962. At that time, Mick was a student at the London School of Economics, Keith just got out of art college and was looking for work, and Brian was playing blues around London trying to start a band, so they all stayed at Mick’s tiny, dilapidated off-campus living space. They were really poor at the time and often picked up bottles for extra money to eat and pay the rent there. The guys also often slept fully dressed because there was never heat. It was pretty much a sh*thole, but it was a roof over their heads:
Mick Jagger’s former girlfriend, Cleo Sylvestre, also said he always tried to get her to sleep over, but she’d be like, “nah!” 🤣 The place was just NASTY!:
Did Mick Jagger really propose to Cleo Sylvestre? were they really going to get married
Yes! Cleo even said it in an interview. She was his first girlfriend, his first love, he brought her home to meet his parents, and he proposed to her:
went on a really amazing bus tour today and saw Edith Grove, as well as Mick's and Keith's places on Cheyne Walk that they lived in in the late 60s/70s but the coolest thing actually was going to the Troubadour club, we even could stand on the stage (in the room where Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix played) and there was a leftover setlist from whatever band played there last night xD
wait what, Charlie also lived at Edith Grove at one point? 😂 this is hilarious xD
Just picked up some vintage UK Jazz periodicals; this page from the November 21st, 1962 edition of Jazz News & Reviews features a box ad for The Rollin’ Stones (sic), who were using Mick ‘n Keef’s Edith Grove flat as an admin base
