Pictures of the Month
This month I have been taking advantage of the fine summer weather and making the most of the great outdoors. At this time of year the sun can be very intense which produces a large contrast between light and shadow and depending what I am photographing this can cause problems. Harsh sun is not great for portraits but it can be very useful for architectural studies or landscape scenes. Here are my favourite photographs from a sunny June.
A Thomas Cook flight passes over Kegworth Cricket Club on its approach into East Midlands Airport.
This picture is part of a series of images to show First Leicester’s buses in service around the city and county. Here, the No. 54 crosses over the River Soar near Abbey Park.
Rock fans arrive at the Download music festival at Donington Park using a variety of methods to get their camping gear onto the site.
The leading cyclists on Stage 3 of the Women’s Tour of Britain climb up the Burton Dassett Hills in Warwickshire.
The great great grandson of First World War hero Thomas Marston proudly wears his campaign medals. Thomas Marston had been buried in an unmarked grave since 1922 until his plot was discovered recently and marked with a beautiful headstone.
