I think I’m going to start something on my blog called: Kanthony things I would LOVE to see happening in s3.
This isn’t going to be written chronically, just things that pop up in my head and need to get out ;-).
But what if we start with the birth of Neddy, like in the second episode or so. And we actually see him take his first steps during the season. At Aubrey hall, in the large drawing room.
Kate and Anthony feel it coming, they know he's about to do it any day now, because he makes some kind of attempt to do so a lot lately. Ultimately he ends up just crawling in the end, because it's easier for him to go places like that. But every day his movements look a little more like a first step, and both parents are so excited and proud for him trying.
Okay, maybe they are a little bit overly excited.. and above all, very afraid to miss it. So in order to prevent this from happening, Anthony sends Benedict to handle things with a tenant, and Kate skips tea time with her mother in law.
The drawing room is ready; they've cleared the floor, created a path for their son to walk safely, there are pillows everywhere on the ground, so if he falls, Neddy wouldn't hurt himself.
To encourage him more, Kate and Anthony sit on the ground themselves, constantly waving happily (and expectantly) at the tiny, curly dark haired boy.
But because children tend to do the exact opposite of what you want them to do, all Neddy seems to be interested in that day are Kate's curls and Anthony's forehead dimple.
It's not a bad day, not at all, since Neddy gives them hugs all the time, but it doesn't look like he's going to walk.. Which is fine, this day was lovely; Kate and Anthony want all of their days to be like this.
They give it one more try, promising Neddy some presents if he just gets up and walks into Kate's open arms, but there’s still no movement from the headstrong child.
As lovely as it was, they're giving up for today, willing to accept “defeat” and peppering his face with kisses anyway to thank him for the precious hours the parents spent with their child.
They didn't suspect it, but when Anthony's making his way outside the drawing room to see if dinner is ready, NEDDY OUT OF THE BLUE FOLLOWS HIM. His wobbly legs are determined to follow his Appa, because he cannot leave him and his Amma! They’re having so much fun!
(Later they think it's because Anthony mentioned strawberries, and Neddy LOVES them)
Anthony's chest beams with pride, tears start to fall quickly. Kate cheers loudly, praising Neddy. She stands up, walks over to her man, lifts the youngest and wraps them all in a tight, family hug.
“You did it Neddy,” she whispers, “we love you, so so much.”
