Genuinely the coolest thing that the Egg Dragoon was meant to be Eggman’s ultimate machine, his true answer to Sonic. Him using it when he’s finally achieved his goal of constructing Eggmanland really gives it a sense of finality– he’s done what he wants to do, and the only thing left is to get rid of Sonic for good.

Also neat that the Werehog adds a wrinkle to his plan of basing the machine off of Sonic’s movement patterns. He didn’t account for the Werehog, and the very form he bestowed upon Sonic is the reason he lost. This stuff rules man
