I like that Opal theory a lot! Id like to think that it starts by her asking Garnet about her two gems (considering she's from the kindergarten where all the gems are "perfect") and Garnet unfused to show her Ruby and Sapphire but then Pearl steps in to show her the fusion dance basics and they fuse. (Sorry it's just a really cute theory!!)
