Use sunfish bones from the handicraft store to make bone marine swords. They give a nice strength boost (600 str for mine) for only 50 gold each.

The swords do take up a lot of space, but you can store the pre-made bone form in stacks of 5 and they only take up two squares of inv space, so just only craft them when needed.
