Today is Ethics Day here in Green Bay, WI USA as it is once every November, generally around the first or second Thursday of the month. As I do every year, I spent time volunteering as part of the Student Ethics Forum, which happens first thing in the morning. The forum is where high school students from the area come to talk about ethics and its importance, and by participating in scenarios taken from the headlines (past and present year) that call into question ethics and what it means. I started out maybe 8 or so years ago just helping my sister with organization and set-up and I later on began co-moderating one of 5-6 breakout scenarios. My sister has since moved on but I still co-moderate and it's always a wonderful experience every year--these kids consistently surprise me and blow me away. Today was no exception. . After the student forum is the Ethics In Business Awards luncheon, and this year is the first year they have had a Youth Award. I had the good fortune of being in the breakout group with the first ever recipient (the runner up was in another group), and it was so great to work with him. He and the rest of these kids give me hope that maybe this world can and will get better. That the coming generations will do better where we have failed. That more love, empathy, compassion, and honor can filter in and finally become the basis of all we do individually and as a society. I do hope I will see it in my lifetime. . Great job, students!! And congrats to all the award recipients and finalists! . #EIB2018 #EthicsDay #GreenBay #Wisconsin #WisconsinStuff #EthicsInBusiness #StudentEthicsForum @foundationsgb https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp7sqDGgBCN/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1l5upn4x2ebpr
