5 Non-Traditional Scholarships
There are plenty of less traditional scholarships available throughout the year. Below is proof that there are scholarships out there for just about every unique person and their unique interest.
1. The Eileen J. Garrett Scholarship – Specifically for students studying parapsychology, the study of near-death experience, psychic powers, reincarnation and more.
2. The Gatling Scholarship at North Carolina State University – This scholarship requires that your last name be Gatling or Gatlin (no other variations will be considered) in honor of North Carolinian entrepreneur John Gatling. And no, you can’t legally change your last name to be considered for this scholarship– a copy of your birth certificate is required.
3. The Gertrude J. Deppen Scholarship – Awarded at Bucknell University in varying amounts each year to students who not only do not participate in strenuous athletic contests but also abstain from tobacco, liquor and narcotics.
4. The Tall Clubs International Student Scholarships – The Tall Clubs International Convention, TCI awards student scholarships of up to $1,000 each to tall students who are under 21 years of age and attending their first year of college in the following fall.
5. The Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest – Open to any high school senior in the United States who can call ducks. The scholarships can be used to further their education in any field. Students have 90 seconds to use four calls: hail, feed, comeback and mating.
