Ah! That wasn’t actually a typo, I was referring to Shikaku, the Jonin Commander, who on hearing that there was a problem with his children’s mission, was calm, and feeling like there was nothing to do about it, because Kakashi had already been assigned to take care of it! <3
OH lmao gosh sorry. It’s 6:30AM and I never went to bed and I haven’t had coffee yet so I’m kind of on idiot mode.
Okay to ACTUALLY address your comment yes wow I feel like. Kakashi probably isn’t even aware of how much Shikaku (and Yoshino!) trust him, but Shikaku trusts him SO much. Not to throw shade on Asuma because 100% Shikaku wouldn’t trust Shikamaru with someone he doesn’t trust, but I think there’s no one Shikaku would trust more with his kids than Kakashi. Largely because Kakashi does not give a single solitary fuck about what anyone thinks or about village laws or anything.
When Hiruzen was Hokage it was a good bet that Asuma would go against his father casually and with lots of spite especially to help his students but Tsunade is actually a good Hokage who hasn’t personally frequently wronged Asuma, so I think Shikaku is aware that there’s lot of things Asuma would have done when his father was Hokage that he wouldn’t do now.
Kakashi meanwhile absolutely has lines in the sand -- but they’re way farther back than Asuma’s, and they’re based on his own personal ethics, not on village law or politics, so Shikako knows for instance that Kakashi would basically tank any mission no matter how politically important to get the kids out alive.
