Eira's Children (The Process tm)

So, again, I didn't really care for the way the first gen looked ((note: called first gen because they're related to Gen 01's heir, and splinters from the main line then)) because of the unnatural skin, the messed genetics of hair color and eyes (THOSE ARE LIKE MY FAVOURITE PART NOW TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS) and in general they were also pretty empty. I didn't really play with characters not the heir in the beginning so most of the siblings are pretty empty. I then manufactured families for them and tossed them into the immortal (old) save. The idea was to get around to playing with them, but they were already so empty i didn't really know what to do.

So i remaded them.

Now, i didn't *actually* go in game, get Eira pregnant, and then saw how the child came out. Mostly because i was impatient and sims getting pregnant feels like forever and 5, plus getting the correct gender and twins, and gwjlfdkljk IMPATIENT (on some things <3). So i used the CAS genetics.

Also, names. I had Disney for Snow's last name on the official file for the longest time, and then gave them last names in the immortal file. So, the first gen was last name White, and then in the future as the heir's were girls they got their father's last names. So wide variety (i would get bored with just one last name (hides)). Also i kinda headcannon that even tho they're related and big important figures no one like, immediately knows of their empire, because of the names. You have to do some surface digging to see how they all relate. (but also i get a little uncomfy at nepotism allegations so IN PROGRESS). So, right now as they all have different fathers they get the different names.

Also, this is where when picking out fathers as a older person gets a little weird, because im PICKING. Like, i can make the fathers outright, making a lot of decisions. And that got me thinking of cultures and races and like, i didn't want all of them to be *white*, but also they gonna have different cultures even if they're white, but also they're being raised by their mom (snow white is a german tail, i kinda think Eira would have been brought up with more german practices). But also i get uncomfy of the thought of "european blood colonizing as it do" because she's german so. I kinda made it mostly european nations? But mostly because in the later generations they're pretty varied and i tried to not do doubles too much because then i get a more cultured experience researching but ughhh. But I was thinking of culture because when i went to "popular now" on the gallary they were all the same kind of "look" on the sims. And then when i downloaded a handful i got catfished ._. BY SIMS. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS A THING TILL THEN ;;;; __ ;;;; i was like "am i going crazy???" and then googled and yup it's a thing. mostly on single household sims. be careful out there guys.

So i was trying to search for more variety. So here's whatended up happening. This time i have all the sims' father because they're on the gallery, so I'll be shouting them out because without them i wouldn't have gotten the sims im now committed and really like them.

Can i just mention that i didn't realize how much loading and waiting and managing it is for downloading and mixing genes through cas? it was so, not completely lagging but yes laggy. like, the buffer time was kinda crazy. But it was fine, I can be patient, promise.

Phoenix is literally the same, no genes needed. he's my baby boy baby. We're just pretending Eira was unsure of the father for her first born, and when writing the papers wrote down "White". Im thinking about it because White is a nice nudge here to the Snow White thing, but also why doesn't she just put down "Thyme" since he's *her* son? why put down a random color? Im still thinking on it if there's a random guy named White out there, because im pretty sure White is an official surname out there. But yeah i couldn't bring myself to do it, I've played as him too often on too many random things (L me fr)

Lamia's dad is russian (which, on reflection looking through her profile, might have been an overestimate but oh well, it was tagged) if you want to find him ur gonna have to go to AlexiaVR's profile and scroll down to march of 2020 because through some witchcraft (the hearts prob) you can't search for it through item.

Basilisk, as the adopted boy, had more leeway in genes so i needed a mom and a dad for him. I ended up trying for more greek parantage (the percy jackson never leaves). I had to pick Athena, literally how did someone make a sim that beautiful. Obsessed i tell you. And then i got some random dude (up above, the theodokis, i can't write accents on this gosh darn american keyboard im writing straight in tumblr) and do i simp a little? yes. just a little. But also i promise i didn't do anything, idk why Basilisk is that broad either i didn't do shit.

i will not lie, idk who this man is. He's the twin's father on the gallery, but i don't have his saved. BUT he's probably a remixed Chasity Burnadette here, since they have the same lastname. And they look vaguely similar. So, :p The twins ended up twinning hard. Also, tho, i knew a person with the lastname Bernadette and i couldn't really look at it without thinking of her so, i changed the name to Laurent (Great Pretender influence there, shameless.)

Nephele is super tricky, because i have to change her by hand. I cant really change her being her genes go on to become the other people, so she has so remain facially the same (and same hair color because next gen has blond people). I didn't change her skin tone to be an inbetween because i actually did have a classmate in the 5th grade that was half black, but she was literally as pale as a sheet. I didn't know about her dad at all until we were showing off some projects we'd made at the end of the year and saw them, mind-blowing stuff for a child. at that point i had thought all half white, half black children were exactly a mix, so glad i got that misconception out of the way before it buried itself too deeply. I did give her a different name, however, because i don't know the history of the irish that well, and it was a randomly generated name so I wasn't took comfortable with it.

And for Arachne ngl, I just used this guy but on the side someone was like "this cas *doesn't* need hearts" and im feeling a little weird about it now;;;;; not really sure why they said that but it got me feeling weary, and i googled so the last name on there isn't even a last name? or just common so (:P) weird realization to make midtype, quick fix. But she's supposed to skew Italian.

I think i'm crazy saying that some (arachne and lamia) look pretty similar to how they looked before. Like, their face vaguely resemble eachother, but that might just be the Eira genes. Also, now i think they truly look like siblings :333 and Basilisk looks more like an odd man out (love that for him). Idk, it gives me serotonin. Now they dont look like they're trying to be a rainbow. Congrats guys :333

Also, last note: apologies for the kind of out of nowhere, longwinded race/culture stuff in a post about the sims. I'm personally mexican (white passing tho) and (like most latino people) i've had to kinda grapple with identity (and the ways race and culture affect a person) a lot so I kinda personally added an element of grabbing with culture because of it. It's also important to me personally to try not to default to random gallery white men for everyone because im really vying for non-same face syndrome. Lastly, again, im trying for variety (names and features) and i thought just trying for sims across the globe would be the fastest way of doing that. Seeing what people have tagged :3 (because i don't use the gallery much in general)

Eira's 7 Children (their problems and their origins)

Imma go out and confess: i messed with the features of the first batch of kids.

I was very early in sims 4 gameplay, i still wanted all my sims to be really pretty paragons (yes Snow White was the pinnacle of cute as a middle schooler, shuddup) so when they came out ugly or fat (yes fatphobic tiny me, i promise im better and working unlearning anything else i got in there) and now whenever i get a sim i just find them all so precious and different im not really bothered by eccentricities.

Also, now that i look at them i'm a little creeped out by them, Just a little.

But yes, i did mess with the features of the first batch of children.

The least offensive ones is that i just wanted all their hair colors to be different so i could differentiate them. This proved not to be a problem for me now, but yeah none of these were like the original hair color.

The other thing is that, yikes, i had kids with townies. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but in case i ever want to divorce the family from the sims, have them live without it as a crutch so hard (like when people make minecraft OCs and later when they write the world for the character is has minecraft mechanics and monsters lmao) so im actually kinda like, if i write a story i don't want their names attached. The biggest offenders of this:

J Huntington III and Travis Scott

Mr. J was the father for the first child, Phoenix. I don't know how it happened anymore. How did that tied sweater work on me to think he was a good candidate ;; __ ;;. As for Mr. Travis, EIRA LITERALLY MARRIED HIM. NO JOKE. I was like "she settles in the end," and ITS HIM. THIS DUDE. It's literally like when there's the super pretty girlfriend (i thought she was super pretty) and she gets with the nerdy dude who people think isn't that attractive. Again, in real life there's other factors but in sims, i was new and hadn't formed any connections with the townies, i didn't know them at all. and i choose this dude to settle her with. Whuff.

Anyways, here's the profile of the 2nd gen as young adults:

VAMPIRE WHITE SKIN FOR LIKE, OVER HALF OF THEM. AND THE HEIR AT THAT ;; __ ;; AND LIKE ONE OF THOSE DON'T EVEN COUNT, HE WASN'T FROM THE GENE POOL. They scare me. Also, you can tell i was trying to lean into CC for Nephele but i gave that up, here lemme get you a non CC ver. Also, lol the clear women preference

Going in order (first pic bundle), we have

Phoenix. He's the eldest, child of Mr. J, and Snow 1.0, and as the first child I love him way dearly. I think he's like, my favorite, straight up. I've also played as him a lot just because he's in the starving artist catagory, and he's gotten the most character changes. I'm still uncertain whether to like, cut things or to merge things for him. His design doesn't change, I think he's cute and im too attached to him to consider it. His bad trait was being gloomy (depressed). To be talked about later.

Lamia, she was 2nd eldest. Her trait was jealous, and she was supposed to be a bitch (im currently playing as her and that kinda fell to the wayside whoops, i'll try harder). Her thing was being a pianist, entertaining at first, party person / aspiring musician. But her aspiration was joke star (._.). Her dad was a randomly generated person randomly named Adrian Buff. No, i didn't save him ;; __ ;;.

Basilisk, eh his age is kinda debatable. He's actually adopted. He was one of the babies you could adopt like, immediately starting a save file. Idk if it's different now, but when i started playing i had made (face palm) made AUs for them like i was gonna start over even tho i was on gen 02, not even that far. But for a while i kept adopting him just because i'd known he was there available in other different saves. ANYWAYS, he's a slob. I made him the stereotype of jock (ew) and he wanted to be an athlete professionally (aspiration body builder).

Next we got the twins, Griffin and Sphinx. TWINS. Challenge 7 kids going quick. Griffin was supposed to dress in black, Sphinx in white. They're supposed to be the genius troublemaker trope, and i had no idea what to do with them. Their dad (exposing myself) was a sim named Jumin Han (jwgelgdlwefnsd) no i don't have the sim saved. Their hair is genetically modified to be red, and their eye color the slightly diff blue shade. ITS ALL FAKE!!!! they were basically the same person, but one was clumsy (griff) and the other lazy (sphinx). They were so alike, i had them marry a set of identical twins at first.

Cindy, Ella, Eleanor, Nephele, was our heir. Also randomly generated sim, I think i have him saved somewhere actually. I remember Kian Cavanaugh's (randomly generated) name because i had her visit him and eventually he died on my lot (old age). Anyways, she didn't have any flaws because, heir (sigh) but she was supposed to be like, chronic foodie. So i honestly should've put glutton ._. (bruj). We'll get to her characterization later. But I didn't want her father to have been the one Snow 1.0 settled with, since i thought that was dumb (little me living for the drama of having different parents, not realizing she had no way to convey the kind of trauma and complex relationships that creates, thx).. I distincly remember her hair being a black (not me white washing her hair huiwlljlg ;;;;; __ ;;;;;)

Youngest and brattiest, Arachne. She got a shit name because she was supposed to be the most hated, the one doted on (because Snow 1.0 settled with her dad (ew travis) that spoils her) and the stand in for evil step sister. She has anger management issues. She was supposed to be bratty, then terrible edgy teen (last picture), and then mellows out, taking her outlet of writing to gain success.

There's the run down, we see what changes i've done (so far) to le Eira clan. I took the liberty of playing as them as teens (children aging up messes up the faces) so they got some relationships due to growing together :3

Gen 01: Eira Thyme (Snow White) p2

BEHOLD: PINK UNDERTONES

I kept her body basically

okay so i feel like her first outfit doesn't super reflect her as much but i feel like her variety holds on to old and new elements so meh, im less bothered by it.

Okay SO, im still iffy on the details but THE GIST: Eira Thyme grew up to wealthy parents in a wealthy household. Something happens when she comes of age (i said gist, idk what to do with that yet) and runs off. After much travel, finally thinking she's safe, she sets herself up in a cottage in the middle of the woods (details of how she gained this cottage uncertain yet). She lives nearby a community that's farther out, but she's generally alone. Here, in the cottage core dreams she lives off harvests, her main income crops she grows and sells to the village, and gaining resources and social interactions from them in return. She likes the village but also likes the company of her animals, the wildlife that surrounds her and the livestock she takes care of. But she's still used to living a wealthy life so when she realizes how to get profits from living with the land she does tend to splurge a little on having a nicer "cottage" and nice clothing. She's pretty cut off from any electronics however, not really missing them when she's plenty to do.

here, having her children does mean that she gets more hands to help her out LMAO.

but anyways, some meta things: i gave her to represent the color yellow (because of disney dress) but now she skews more gold (main clothing). She's still pretty yellow. She has cottage core clothing but i tried to make it more "farm". I had simple living on her lot so i ended up doing livestock of chickens and a cow unintentionally when i originally wanted to have her more as a gardening powerhouse :p it happens. I had her in the botanist career until her children moved out because money ;; __ ;; but we're pretending she was kinda more isolated than that.

Her new traits were now Good (in the sense she likes to try to do the right thing, feels way more guilt that most people would at doing anything considered "wrong" but does get up a little on her high horse sometimes), cheerful, but now noncommittal (the fathers thing). During game play, she's active (i have her going on jogs and nature walks) and her rowdy kids got her involved in their fitness, high energy shenanigan's.

She's also paranoid because of the amount of thundering in henford but i think it fits since she ran away. She's paranoid about her bad luck dragging her past back, and in general more overprotective of her children. Motherly behavior (my mom influence maybe). I think this makes her wanting children the most logical part, her being lonely up in her cottage a good motivator for her to find connection, whether it be a platonic, romantic, sexual, or familial connection, she's craving anything because she's so alone. I think her fear might also be keeping her in that lonely cottage as well. Either way, i think it makes for interesting story :3

She's also now an overachiever. I think this is was actually a boon for story telling (even if its annoying when ur character is immortal and u have to cheat her skills down so she feels accomplished. In the real world there's never a "maxed skill", you find new ways to do things you already do). I like to think, as Eira is the founder, a lot of what her descendants get from her is their tenacity and drive. A lot of the later characters a pretty intense, even if that intensity isn't like, the best. She has a lot of descendants i call "genius"s even iif they're probably gonna get debuffed so it's not like her lineage is known for producing incredible people. But im telling a story about these people so as a younging playing as if maxing out sims was the end all b all, they're all too overpowered ;; __ ;;. but before Eira was just there, now she's like the catalyst. Doing her best and a drive to keep trying her best at whatever she decides to do. In this case its human connection and surviving comfortably. Hence literally learning how to grow crops over years of getting tips from the village and the wildlife even if she was a rich girl who never had to live on her own before.

Anyways here some outfits. Not all of them, but a few ones i think kinda go with what im trying to do. I was aiming for kind of cottage core at first, but there's some outfits to show some more "wealth" and some of when she's out working on her fields/animals. For most of her outfits i was trying to keep them not that form fitting (for her day to day) but like, that last one got away from me i think she just looked too good in it, ranch vibes.

I was trying to keep a feminine vibe because Eira was always a pretty feminine character from the beginning, since i really always focused more on her role as mother. When i started playing with her i almost immediately went looking for men to have these 7 children with lmao so she was a mother pretty early on. I think having her defined as "raising kids" make me forget to try to flesh her out as a person too tho.

Im way happier with her characterization now. :3 but i loved her even when she had no personality but confusing actions, so im way biased.

Gen 01: Eira Thyme (Snow White) p1

Okay so, idk how to put things under the cut so sorry if jumpscare.

Because here's the first iteration of Snow White for y'all

She started it all. Yes. Her.

So, again, i was working with base game it she was like one of my first sims, literally. like, maybe 3 sims before her, of like hardcore old OCs i had. This one doesn't have the stars because cc. But yeah, that's her.

I don't really like this version because i feel like you don't get anything from this. Her clothes dont say anything about her. I didn't even realize her shoes were like, slippers until way passed when she died.

Really, her traits were bad too. Romantic, Cheerful, and Good. IMAGE THAT. LIKE HUH. in sims 4 two of those just make her feel things (not even strongly, just it pops up every one and while). Cheerful is actually useless. It says nothing, because sims are generally pretty happy. They're really easy to please. Now, in the Growing Together, I keep getting "wanna be cheerful?" because im a sucker for keeping my sims content. So, yeah, this first iteration keeps in line. She was my first, i love her, but girly didn't have a personality.

In fact, she had so little personality her cardboard cut out was "she's very empathetic, good person." her whole character was "good person". Which, as a character to write, isn't the worst characteristic to have a paragon of good (cap america, superman) but beyond that she had nothing. No interest, no likes, no dislikes (just sad when people are mean). Nothing. I gave her a chef job so she would cook well for her kids and thats about it.

AND SHE WASN'T EVEN GOOD AT BEING "GOOD". I had her have children with 5 different men ;; __ ;; like i had no clue how to spin that. I had the idea of "good girl" stereotype including a kind of same chasity, which the challenge said was fine, but i thought it was more interesting if she had different fathers. And i'm not saying the part with the sleeping around is a terrible crime, its more the 7 children part. like, canonically does she not know how contraceptives' work??? Did she *want* 7 children and never tell the dads about it since she has custody of them all? If they were one night stands they wouldn't want children and there would be no 7 anything, if they were unplanned and she didn't want them then she didn't know about abortions, and if they were wanted and planned then the drama of leading on multiple men at the same time (because they were all close in age) is like, shockingly evil. Not something a good sim would do.

So either i go with something realistic, and sad and depressing at the beginning. Or something unrealistic and campy for the vibes.

Either way, kinda screwed myself over. I compromised by making her more morally gray. The story now goes roughly along the lines of: she doesn't believe in abortions, she knew the consequences of sleeping around, and she didn't want to tell the fathers because she didn't want them to try to talk her out of it or for them feeling guilty about something she did. So. I feel like it's rough and im still brainstorming if i think of something better. Maybe writing out her though process would help, just because i feel like that ^^ is kinda wild and something most people don't like, see everyday.

So really, i made a mess of things super early on ;; __ ;; making things difficult for myself is my middle name.

When she got moved to the old immortal save, i moved things with her but i didn't really get a personality from her anyways. Just, kinda hanging out. But yeah, no vibes coming from her. her bland house in her bland outfits, living her bland life.

I gave her a few outfits that later were used as the basis of her new stuff. Not as bad as the first look, me thinks.

Eira right now is pretty different, and lives a different life.

My first few mistakes

So, I love my Snow White. She's my founder, and im irrationally attached to her, go figure. But two things: 1) She was named Snow White, 2) She was unnaturally pale

Soooooo, originally my idea was to name her Snow Disney. Disney was gonna be the name carried by everyone. but uh, i soon became disenchanted with the idea. And by now, at most they only roughly have an outline from anything Disney related. So most of these characters were given names that are, well, names. And my founder was stuck with the name Snow White. Everyone else got to be their own person with different names but she was stuck.

Easy fix, some of the early characters also had this problem. Gen 02 Cinderella was give then name Eleanor, because Cinderella -> Ella (nickname?) -> Eleanor, when all her siblings were named after greek mythology (she doesn't fit the theme ;; __ ;; and i was in my hardcore percy jackson phase middle school). So she is now Nephele. Also, at some point i had accidentally made an Annabeth Chase (see: percy jackson fan, i was literally never gonna see her the same). So, some people just got name changes. It happens. Eventually, through some later discussed means, I ended up changing Snow White to Eira Thyme. But, i still struggle to call her it sometimes. but im determined >>>:(

The second one was more dire. So, my design philosophy with Eira was that she was gonna follow the original Snow White story. "hair as black as ebony, lips as red as the rose, skin as white as snow." I gave her the black hair that was black, the ebony i thought well bluish undertone is fine right? I gave her consistent dark red lipstick (because dark red felt more blood like :3) and then i fucked up:

I gave her unnatural skin tone. Yknow, the one in the other section where the grays and colors were.

(cc i randomly found as a kiddo, heavy makeup because i thought it was cool, feathered hair because i had the book thief on the brain, and the UNHOLY PALE SKIN. I didn't even know the necklace was a dog tag until recently ;; __ ;; she didn't know anyone in the military)

These skin tones are seen as unnatural by the sims 4 gene pool, as it can't exactly mix colors like *green* to the regular skin tones. So, by having a sim with the skintone, it was REALLY HEAVY in the genes. I didn't know this as a starting player, and was really confused as to why her "pale skin" was so prominent in the family later on. This was seen almost immidiatly in her kids. NEPHELE LIKE. was a product of her getting with a man with a really dark skin tone and she was still AS PALE AS A FREAKIN GHOST. So. :p issues.

I've changed it now, so that Eira is the palest NORMAL SHADE. And honestly. As i wasn't too attached with her children's designs i just ended rerolling them for the new save as well. I was giving them personality and wadrobe changes, i thought i might as well. I'm having so much fun with them now :))))
