Is Sir Cervine dark and solid (his cute ears cast shadows on his antlers!), or is he a void with a silhouette and no other fanartable topography external to his suit? You say a lot of Bright World is inspired by a lovely pidgin of experiences you had in Mexico, but I don't know enough about the culture to know how to look up the symbols I don't immediately recognize, which is part of why I am asking about Deer Gent, and part of why I will soak up any and all Bright World lore you share c:

I squee at the idea of fanart. :D Let’s see what I can tell you. Hm.

He is a solid darkness with weight to it, capable of holding things and taking up 3-D space in a slightly deerish way. Aside from that, he doesn’t have a lot of visible topography; our protagonist finds it hard to read his facial expressions in part because they can’t SEE any of them. He’s quite tall (as we’ll see in the next page), slim, and seems partial to suits and vests. His eyes are LED blue.

His deerishness isn’t particularly Mexican in itself, but his character is a combination of two archetypes that show up in old cinema and telenovelas. I can’t tell you which, but perhaps you’ll guess. :)

(Bonus fact! He also sounds kind of like a very young Joaquín Cordero, which may be in part because the gothic horror of El Libro De Piedra is a huge influence on the ambience of the story.  (You can see ELDP on youtube, but I’m afraid there’s no captioning in English that I can find.))

I’ve also added him to the cast page, though there is not too much information there just yet.

Sali de excursión por el barrio

Y pasaron muchas cosas. Habia un baño con balcón, te lo juro, el baño mas lindo que vi en mi vida. Y despues volvi en bici desde El Ciervo y pasé por Floresta Manhattan que esta re lindo y despues vi como ocho trompos laburando en Ramon Falcon. Deje la bici en casa y me fui a las 3:20 de la mañana a comer pizza al corte a la UNI. Clave fugazzeta rellena con jamon y morrones, y otra de calabresa. Bestia. Habia dos borrachos y un linyera. Pensé que seria buena idea escribir una novela que transcurra en la UNI. Y de ahí a casa, y acá estoy morfando batata con cereza y queso cremoso pizzero… Es una fiesta, la paso bien acá cuando vengo.
