Basically 30 years okay BEEG PORTAL opened above a city and enclosed it in the dome people freak tf out and start trying to escape but then they see anyone who touches the dome walls gets fucking atomized, like you touch it you’re gone, and then they noticed whoever touched the dome (and those died) would suddenly reappear days later And see, that’s because they don’t technically die They get sent to the lovecraftian realm and then fall out of the portal and thus back into the city, However they don’t have their memories, animals are naturally aggressive towards them and liquids don’t really… like, work right On them? It like kinda has friction, and flames don’t really effect them unless they’re like coated in it, Also, not everyone who comes out of the portal has their sanity or body intact, Some people’s brains melt others bodies are basically turned to flesh mounds, It’s basically some people’s brains melt and the only thing left is the fight part from the fight or flight response so they start tearing apart anyone they see and others have their brains altered and bodies goopified so the goop starts trying to reform themselves so they consume and try to merge with others who are also the goop, creating golems, And the transmuted are recruited into this thing called the Lovecraft foundation who are made up basically entirely up of transmuted, now the inside of a transmuted body is basically entirely made of a sort of cell like goop, and stuff in the vague shape and purpose of organs, it means their bodies are easy to regraft together if they’re damaged. So some transmuted specialize in harnessing chamber energy (the power systems energy source) to help regenerate their bodies and if a transmuteds body is injured too much they condense into a rest form (usually a object that represents the transmuted person, I want an Exuse to draw cool stuff like a sword) until they can recover. Could be a week, could be 5 years(however long I feel like), there’s no real way to tell. And that’s not even getting into starting to talk about the church. The eldritch church is this big gothic churh founded in the center of the city basically directly under the epicenter of the portal, there are basically five ranks, attendees, worshipers, clerics, the bishop, and the head, the church was founded by this man named Anthony j Kendrick’s, who went missing about five months before the story starts, transmuted tend to be brought into the churches higher ranks since they’re pretty rare, the church is currently working with the Lovecraft foundation to search for Anthony, the deal is basically that the foundation helps in the search for Anthony and the church lends the foundations dispatch groups a cleric so they can be healed on the job and not have to bleed out till they get back to the base. The current leader of the church also has a mysterious man in a suit of armor acting as a gaurd for the acting head of the church.
