I teach middle school and I can't tell you how many electric pencil sharpeners I have gone through...All of the pencil sharpeners I've had in my classroom have only lasted a year or two and then they've either stopped working or started to burn out. This pencil sharpener is probably one of the best pencil sharpeners I've purchased. I bought the 4-year warranty/protection plan, but I really don't think I'll need it with this product (knock on wood). It is well made, powerful, and sharpens a pencil quickly. I can even sharpen colored pencils with this sharpener! One of the features that I appreciate the most is that it has a little notice/warning sign at the top that says, "Do not push too hard when inserting the pencil. or the machine will make a "hum" noise and will not work." (A reminder that my students seem to need!) I would recommend this product to anyone-- especially teachers!

I am always on the lookout for pencil sharpeners. I draw a lot.....like an hour or two every day. I was somewhat skeptical when I bought this pencil sharpener. A thin, sharp point in just a few seconds seemed too good to be true. My skepticism was unfounded. It sharpens so quickly that I initially thought I had jammed the sharpened. Nope, it just sharpens really fast to a great point. The wooden portion of the pencil is not chewed up. This is a very good pencil sharpener.As a point of reference, I draw enough that my wife no longer moves my sharpeners from the rooms they are left in. I just bring them back. I have multiple pencil sharpeners in different rooms. I have purchased three AFMAT sharpeners in the last month (two electric and one mechanical). I use them to sharpen Prismacolor pencils as well as graphite and I am completely happy with them. I can recommend them to anyone who sharpens pencils.
